X-RARE - GENUINE SOLID SEAM BLACK OPAL 100% NATURAL, FROM TABLON FIELDS, HONDURAS.

1.80 Carats - 7x6x8 mm approx.

This piece is colored : red, yellow, green, blue with beautiful stripes pattern as often with this variety of opal.

I polished slightly the opal for appreciate colors.

Is better to keep this opal as specimen for a collection.

This opal forms similarly to Australian boulder opal in seams that occur in the black basaltic volcanic rock (basalt).

Video and photos was taken indoor, under artificial light.

Honduran Opals vary from milky-white to matrix based, formed mostly by volcanic eruptions in South America. Honduras has some of the oldest opal mines in the world, with the most famous opal mine in Tablon. Many farms subsidize their income from opal mining. The opal mines are found in volcanic black basalt. Honduras Black Matrix are naturally black, but some are treated by soaking in resin, similar to emeralds.
The largest opal deposit in Honduras is the Tablon mine.
